Today I’ve posted a tribute to one of the most incredible and well respected YouTubers out there, Technoblade. If you weren’t aware, he was a Minecraft YouTuber who passed away at age twenty three due to a type of cancer known as sarcoma. He had a couple phrases he often used, one of them being “Technoblade Never Dies”. After his death in June of 2022, hundreds of creators came together to honor him with art, animations, stories, and songs, while hundreds of thousands of fans mourned in their own ways. The Minecraft server Hypixel allowed players for a short time to sign a book in Minecraft with a message, to be given to Techno’s family. They got over 400,000 messages. I can’t write too much here because of the description limits, but despite knowing who he was since July of 2022, I was never a fan. I never bothered to watch his videos, sure I was sad, it was still awful that someone so clearly loved by their community was taken so young. Then a couple months ago, I started watching his videos. And they were /amazing/. I especially love watching them with my brother. We both have the same type of humor, and really enjoyed it. By then, I was no longer just sad about his death, I was crushed. It finally hit me, just a couple days ago, that he’s really, truly gone. I’ve gotten used to creators going months without posting, even up to a year, but I realized that there would be no more videos from the Blade himself. Because I wasn’t there, when he was alive. I didn’t spend hours watching his livestreams, I didn’t sit on my couch and watch him play skywars when a new video released. No, none of that happened until now. Until after he was gone. But as so many people have said, you’re never truly gone until there’s no one left to remember you. So whenever we watch his videos, whenever we draw fan-art, whenever we talk to our friends about him, whenever we scream “Technoblade never dies” in the Minecraft chat, he’s still there, still with us. As long as we remember, he’ll never really be gone.
