HEX

Game Introduction

Forum discussion thread here: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/779637 Based on "Hex FRVR" by Chris Benjaminsen which can be found on experiments.withgoogle.com Original music from Hex FVR by Rasmus Hartvig. Shape rotation formula by @crazymathguy Crowd noises from "DoubleBubble" by @kriblo Thanks to @BamBozzle for his help in fixing a very obscure bug! The randomness of the shape selection is done using the "bag" technique: All shape types are put into a "bag" and then drawn out one at a time. When the bag is empty, all the shape types are replaced and the process begins again. This avoids long sequences of the same shape type coming out. In the classic game, the single piece tile is only sometimes put into the bag, and never if the single piece shape is already available to place. This gets less frequent as the game goes on. Possible future variations could include additional lifelines (shape discard, tile delete, etc.) All graphics were created by me. is an abstract puzzle game that is easy to learn, but hard to master.)

How To Play

* MOBILE FRIENDLY * HEX is an abstract puzzle game that is easy to learn, but hard to master. Drag and drop any of the "tetrahexes" onto the game board. Completed lines in any direction are removed. The more lines you complete at once, the larger a bonus you get! If you're stuck, wait 15 seconds for a hint... There are two game modes:- CLASSIC MODE: No rotations, no time limits, single tile drops. New shape types appear every 10 lines. Use the single tile "lifelines" wisely - they get less frequent as the game goes on. SPEED GAME: Rotations allowed, 3 minute timer, more shape types. To rotate the shapes clockwise just click on them. To rotate them anti-clockwise, computer players can hold down space while clicking them. (Sorry mobile users!) Can you get on the high score table for both game modes?
