The purpose of EA.
Game Introduction
How To Play
I realize that since I publish my comics, and especially weekly, people are beginning to get the wrong idea. I make Eternal Apprentice for myself only. You’re all just along for the ride. EA is a passion project at its core. I publish weekly because it’s a good challenge for myself. I include comedy because I like writing humor. I have representation because I think that’s important. Every aspect is there because it benefits me in some way. Nothing is just for the sake of my readers. And that will never change. This is why EA is such a slow story. I love slow building plots with great payoff (think Adventure Time style). So that’s what I’m writing. This is why there are so many LGBTQ+ characters. Because for a long time of my life, I never saw a single queer character in any media, so I’m making up for lost time, and helping normalize being something other than cis and straight. If you want a story that has majority straight characters, feel free to read practically any other story, especially anything made before like 2020. I draw cats because it’s fun. Whether this makes me a furry is irrelevant. I draw what I have fun making. Kitties are cute and easy. I create EA because it’s fun. If it ever stops being fun and I want to take a week off or even quit entirely, I am fully free to do so. Nothing anyone says can convince me against doing what I want in this situation. (Don’t take this to mean there’s any real risk of me quitting, I love this story too much for that.) All this is to say that I am never going to change my story because it’s not something someone else likes, because it has never been for other people. I write this for myself, not an audience. That’s the joy of nonprofit, I don’t have to appease anyone. Fans are a benefit, not the goal. You’re all able to see EA too, because I also like to show off my work. So in summary, EA is going to be slow, gay, angsty, and deal with the topics I want to talk about. The only suggestions I take are ones about how to better portray a minority/oppressed group represented in characters (and please only give these suggestions if you are qualified to do so, ie. in said group). And by that I mean improving representation already in the comic, not suggesting new ones. Otherwise, if you have a suggestion or complaint, tuck it in your pocket and write your own story with it.
