CSE Activity 1.1.3 Branching and Iteration

Game Introduction

Collaborate to create solutions to real problems, making people's lives better. This is the third assignment in PLTW's new course, CSE, also known as Computer Science and Software Engineering. Find a school near you offering PLTW courses and join over 500,000 students in all 50 states! See pltw.org for details. Credits for this project: Thanks for the picture, Tia! In her job at the time she donated this picture, Tia used computer programs to help cities calculate whether policies would help their citizens use less energy, keep their lakes and streams cleaner, or keep people healthier. She is now using computer programs to calculate what policies will prevent the spread of diseases, as part of her Ph.D. research in epidemiology. Project Lead The Way is a non-profit organization offering curriculum and professional development to U.S. schools. CSE is our new computer science course for high schools. CSE students program in many languages, including Scratch, MIT App Inventor, and Python. See http://www.pltw.org/our-programs/computer-science for details.

How To Play

Press, tap, or hold the space bar. Right now the space bar will move Tia to the right, and she will wrap around off the right edge and back to the left. She gets caught at the left edge of the screen, however, when she moves to the left. Modify the script so that Tia's face wraps from the left of the screen back to the right, but gets caught at the edge of the screen when moving to the right. Modify the script so that her face jitters up and down while moving instead of rotating.
