Game Introduction
Featured January 2016! This Musical Dice game is entirely Mozart's creation, including all the bars and the rules how to select them using two dice. I just brought the game to Scratch. Below, you find a link to Mozart's original score. I first saw this game in the Technorama Winterthur, the Swiss Science Center. It is controversial whether Mozart is actually the author. The game was published in 1792, one year after Mozart's death. The Mozart image is cropped from a painting by della Croce [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Croce-Mozart-Detail.jpg]. The notes are taken from the original 1793 publication, a scan of which can be found in the International Music Score Library Project [http://imslp.org/wiki/Musikalisches_Würfelspiel,_K.516f_(Mozart,_Wolfgang_Amadeus)]. I have typeset the notes with LilyPond [http://www.lilypond.org], based on raw data provided as an example on the Abjad website: [http://abjad.mbrsi.org/examples/mozart/index.html]. The same raw data are used to play the notes by a "Scratch Piano" that I wrote. Images were vectorized with [ http://vectormagic.com/home] (Mozart) and Inkscape [http://www.inkscape.org] (notes). See and hear a piece by the famous composer Mozart that no one has ever seen or heard before! If you want to be a composer yourself, you can always change the selection made by the dice.
