FMV using pen - Pokemon
Game Introduction
Thanks goes to @Yoda3D for his help testing. FAQ Q : Can I make my own video? A : Yes! Here's the converter I made plus detailed instructions on how to use it. http://bit.ly/1HgZ1B4 This will only work on PC. Please follow the instructions carefully. Q : How does it work? A : The Scratch side of things is actually really simple. All it does is draw 300 triangles for each frame. Generating the coordinates and colours for those 300 triangles is done outside of Scratch in a separate app i made. It looks at each frame of a video and attempts to make the best 300 triangles it can to approximate the original picture. This data is then all packed together into a huge text string to be imported into Scratch. Q : How long did it take? A : The Scratch side of things took a couple of hours. The separate app took a couple of hours. Q : How long does it take to convert a video? A : This one took a couple of nights even on my monster lap top. Q : Can I see the source code for the video converter? A : Are you sure? It's a bit hacky. Ok try this http://bit.ly/15Euy1w The original video can be seen here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyXTgqJtoGM Here's another video I've done http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/32178660/ The idea for this project was inspired by an old Amiga demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPoYzwib7JQ
How To Play
This doesn't use any costumes. Use up/down arrows to change quality (once it's finished loading). I found 3 about the best for my laptop. Update : Changed over to @TheLogFather 's tri renderer (though I can't seem to make any changes to my Credits to reflect this. Seems I'm being thwarted by the swear protector for some reason). This tri renderer is faster so I've increased the number of triangles per frame to 400. I've also made some improvements to the converter so you should get a better quality video. Still not as good as this though https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/72880262
