Cat and Mouse

Game Introduction

Forum Thread: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/387033 This game is a re-imagining of the "Theseus and the Minotaur" logic maze designed by Robert Abbott. Read more about that here: https://www.logicmazes.com/theseus.html Robert Abbott sadly passed away in 2018, but has left behind an amazing legacy of games and puzzles. All the levels and the tutorial were taken from the iPhone app of the above. Music is from "Mission: Impossible". Thumbnail from iStockPhoto. Title font is called Badaboom! Load/Save icons by @awesome-llama Exploding board effect by @THE_MOST Scoreboard font by @gor-dee Special thanks to @PutneyCat As many people have pointed out, this game is very similar to the "Prison Escape" mini-game in Bit Life. I was unaware of that game until now, but I imagine that it too was based on "Theseus and the Minotaur". Another version of this game was called “Mummy Maze” and is still available as an app! Thanks to @dustedpuffs for helping people in the comments, and to @ggenije for his very detailed bug report! move you make the cat makes two. Can you get to the cheese before the cat gets you?)

How To Play

* MOBILE FRIENDLY * Please read all the instructions and do the Tutorial levels first! WARNING! This is one of the hardest games you will find on Scratch! Every move you make the cat makes two. Can you get to the cheese before the cat gets you? The cat moves towards the mouse horizontally first, then vertically. He will never move away from the mouse in any direction... knowing this means you can lure him into traps. Arrow Keys/WASD or click/tap a square to move to. Sometimes it's good to "miss a turn" and see what the cat does next - Press space or click/tap the mouse to force the cat to move again. If you get stuck there is a reset button and an undo button at the bottom left of the screen, or press "R" to restart, and "U" to undo the last move. (Alternatively, "Z" undo and "X" restart) The game also detects if you've been in an identical position previously, and recalculates the number of moves you've taken accordingly. If at all unsure about anything please play the tutorial levels first! There are 50 levels. Good luck! See forum thread for instructions on how to use the level designer, and to store custom level codes... https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/387033
