Rant
Game Introduction
(cont) stealing or being rude. It will only get you both in trouble. 4. Homophobia I have mixed feelings about this one. Honest to God, I am not one. I am a straight ally, and will remain that way. And I believe it's not okay to be homophobic in any way. And of course, if I see ANYONE being homophobic, I will passionately tell them to stop and report them. I HATE homophobia with all my heart and soul, and I come from a family that hates it as well. I don't, however, have anything against people who dislike them because of religion, unless they do something bad to LGBTQ+ members because of said beliefs. I believe that some people will never change, no matter how many arguments about the topic they get into. So I don't try to change them unless they go out of their way to be mean. And I disagree that some people say that Heterophobia doesn't exist. It does, I've experienced it firsthand. I think that as long as people don't start arguments against gays and keep their opinions to themselves, and care about their gay friends(if they have any) regardless of sexual identity, then it's fine. 5. Straight Pride As a straight ally, I understand that it is EXTREMELY stupid and homophobic. Us het people are not discriminated in any way(most of the time, like I said above, heterophobia does exist). We do NOT need a straight pride month, literally the entire year is our "pride month". So please, don't try to get something completely unnecessary and offending. Thanks for reading my long and salty rant. I'm sorry if I sound rude in any way. Thanks! ~Ahi (the art is mine. Please don't steal, or I will have known that SOMEONE didn't read the rant.)
How To Play
Alright, I want to address SEVERAL issues going on in Scratch. So here, a rant. It's organized in parts, so bear with with me. Feel free to debate in the comments, just don't be rude. If you do, your comments will be reported and deleted. First off- 1. Art theft Okay, this one is a HUGE issue right now. If you've been up to date with what's going on, then you'll know what art theft is. It is a HUGE problem among Scratch's art community. Artists are posting such amazing creations, and then guess what? Little 6 year olds come along and take that piece of art without permission, and post it on their own profiles/outside of Scratch on other websites as their own art, not respecting the original artist at all. And then when people confront them about it, they get angry and report everyone. And in the end, those confronting them get banned, while the dumb little kid gets attention that should've gone to the artist who worked so hard to make it. Is that fair? And as for those who believe that ST is correct about recolors and traced lineart counts as a legitimate remix, I don't see your logic there. Uhhh, so you're saying that taking a piece of art that an artist spent time and patience to make, and then replacing it with bright fluorescent colors and eye-scorching scribbles is "creative"? How does that even make sense? I guess adding random dots to someone's background is also creative now too, huh? Wow. Also, tracing and recoloring is virtually the same thing. It just makes the recolors less obvious. Don't trace either; I honestly think the only scenarios that you can trace is either if the original owner gives you permission (regardless of whether you credit them or not; artists like to give you consent before you use any of their works), or if you're trying to do a small(I said SMALL) reference off someone's art style(I mean things like the way they draw cheek floof, or the style of drawing eyes) and don't share it. Those are the ONLY times tracing should be done, and even then, you should really try to draw your own art! Anyone can draw with time, and many people on Scratch get famous by drawing stick figures. If you are tracing/recoloring/stealing because you believe that it will make you popular/you cannot draw, then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop, think about how the original artist will feel when you take their hard work as your own, and make your own art. 2. Idea/Art style/Pallet theft First of all,*Takes deep breath* HOW THE HECK DID PEOPLE GET IT INTO THEIR HEADS THAT THESE COUNTED AS A THEFT?! Like, you can't steal an idea? If someone gets the idea to draw, say, a fox with wings, and someone else does the same thing, then that does NOT mean that the second person is stealing the idea of the first person. Anyone who accuses someone of stealing their idea does NOT understand the fact that other people can have the same ideas as them, and that just because they thought of it first doesn't mean that the entire concept belongs to them. Unless, of course, they created an original species and another person steals the entire freaking species and claims it as their own. Without changing ANYTHING, which isn't possible because all species are unique in their own way, either the way they are drawn or the powers(if any) that they have. Then THAT's stealing. Art style theft- That doesn't even exist! People are accusing random artists(such as Sashley, an animator on YT) of stealing art styles. No, just because someone draws floof/fingers/wings/etc the same as YOU do doesn't mean that they are stealing from you! The only time art style theft is valid is if someone DELIBERATELY copies each and every way that an artist draws something, which is virtually impossible and can only be done if either someone is actually looking at you over your shoulder while you draw, or you are an anime artist. And even then, anime artists don't steal art styles, because it's anime. Duh 3. Accusations This is a slightly sensitive subject, and to those who know me well may sound hypocritical. If you see someone who has been stealing art in any way, do NOT argue with them. Trust me, I KNOW from experience that if you go witch-hunting someone because they stole, ST will ban BOTH of you regardless of who did what. Report and move on, and if you must; leave a friendly warning saying something along the lines of "Don't steal art, you may get banned" or "Anyone can draw if they practice, so don't steal". If you see someone who has been bullying someone, ONLY use force in your comments when standing up for the victim. Then and ONLY then can you be aggressive. Otherwise, report the comments and leave. Also, if an argument has been resolved, then don't start it up again by yelling at the bully. That's basically the equivalent of necroposting on forums, and will only cause harm to you and others. Believe me, I've been in many horrible scenarios in the past. It's not going to help anyone if you be mean to someone
