▹Click/Space/Arrows (turn volume on if you want to hear to the song :3) ▸ scroll down to see an explanation of the slides ▹ This entry is a bit late/rushed but I’m pleased with the result, even if I didn’t add glasses so not sure how similar they look to the sprite ^^; it’s pretty simple in concept, but considering I struggle with side profiles and didn’t use any one reference it went decently well :) ▸ congrats @komponera / @miIue for hitting 1k+! Check em out, they are my BFF xD And good luck to the participants, I’m excited to see who’s going to win, even though I might be involved with judging xD Made in PROCREATE using a regular flat brush and blended with that and a similar brush Time taken - 2+ hours according to procreate though it felt longer, 8 let this piece sit for a week and added small things every day ▹Step details 1. Pencil sketch, self explanatory I suppose 2. Sketched it in digital and adding some colors 3. I tried rendering the previous slide, though I didn’t like the facial anatomy and colors, so in the next step I restarted 4. Did simple lineart, focused more on the anatomy to make it feel more realistic, then added base colors 5. Started shading and adding values 6. Rendered it a bit more, blended the lineart with the colors 7. Zoomed in closer, tbh I didn’t like the fabric and didn’t have a reference for it so I decided to cut most of that out. Added colors and blended here and there. 8. Worked on the form of the face, especially the cheeks. Also I struggled sooo much with the eyes in this view, wasn’t sure what to do with the highlight in the eye. This was also the step where I was considering restarting completely xD 9. Increased saturation, added a filter or two, and did a halftone effect in procreate for those dots.
