How To Play

⊱ ────── {.⋅ ♫ ⋅.} ────── ⊰ Hai ^w^ You can view this artwork better in my other project, linked here ----> https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/520320511/ thank you and enjoy the speedpaint :) ⊱ ────── {.⋅ ♫ ⋅.} ────── ⊰ Instructions: space, click, or arrow keys to navigate ^D^ Press the up arrow to see the project do the speedpaint by itself! ⊱ ────── {.⋅ ♫ ⋅.} ────── ⊰ Feel free to remix and show me your own drawing of Glory :)) You may also use my lineart anywhere on-site with credit ^^ ⊱ ────── {.⋅ ♫ ⋅.} ────── ⊰ Steps: 1) Sketch. I usually use a light blue and just try to get a general feel of what my drawing will look like. It isn't usually detailed. 2) Lineart. This one takes me the most amount of time, by far. I trace the sketch, making small changes wherever I see a problem. 3) Lineart without the sketch layer. 4) Coloring. I'm not sure if this is how other people color, but I like to use layers to my advantage and just be quite messy xD 5) Coloring- yellow and blue. 6) Coloring- underbelly. 7) Coloring- frill. I first just kinda scribbled some orange, and added some red. Then I used the blend tool to soften it and make it a nice gradient. 8) Coloring- horns. 9) Coloring- back. 10) Coloring- no idea what to call this on a dragon, but it's around the eye lol 11) Coloring- the sclera, or white of the eye. I usually make it a really saturated version of the character's actual eye color. 12) Coloring- eye color. I took the original color of Glory's eyes and created a gradient by putting a slightly darker version of it at the top and a slightly lighter version of it at the bottom. I also used the blending tool to make a gradient affect. 13) Coloring- spines 14) Lighting. Since at this point I knew I wanted a background scene at night, I used light blue for lighting, like moonlight. I just colored it wherever it seemed like the lighting would hit her, (the lighting's coming from behind her in this specific picture) and blended it slightly 15) Lighting- saturation. I put around a 30-40% saturation on the lighting layer. It's a little hard to see, and that's okay! 16) Shading. Again, because it was a night scene, I used something different that what I would usually use for a daytime scene. For shading, I used quite a dark blue, putting it on Glory's right side. Then I blended it to make it look more natural. Reminder- you do not need to blend shading. I just do it because it looks nicer in my opinion. 17) Shading, saturation. Around 40-45% saturation 18) Coloring the lineart. This makes the drawing look a lot better compared to a background. Although it is not a necessary step, I recommend you do it ^w^ 19) Details. I used the paint roller brush for this. I just went and took colors from specific areas and went over them with dapples of a slightly darker version of it and a slightly lighter version. I think it makes it look more painted and pretty. 20) Background. I didn't want a solid color for the night sky, so I spent around 20 minutes putting little bits of light blue, purple, and even pink into it. 21) Extra details for the background. I used the scattered dot tool, and made a bunch of small dots. I made them bigger, causing them to look kind of luminous when saturated. 22) Overlay. 23) Overlay of smaller dots. (I used a different tool for this than step 21) 24) More small dots, but no overlay this time 25) The moons. Since in Wings of Fire, Pyrrhia has three moons, I attempted to put that detail in my background 26) An overlay of a white splotch. Just basically lighting for the background 27) An overlay of a black splotch. 28) White outline. I feel like something like this makes your drawing pop. 29) Pink. 30) Pink overlay, around 30% opacity. 31) Small border. It's not very visible xD 32) Extra lighting. For this one I used pink this time, and did basically the same thing as the earlier lighting. 33) Lighting- saturation and overlay. Finished :D ⊱ ────── {.⋅ ♫ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
