Game Introduction
FUN FACT: I had to manually vectorize the Vib-Ribbon logo (and all the coupons) for this project. Vib-Ribbon is a PlayStation rhythm game released by NanaOn-Sha in Japan in 1999, and Europe in 2000. In 2014, it was re-released on the PlayStation Store in both regions and, for the first time, North America. In the game, you control a rabbit named Vibri as she runs across a line covered in various obstacles. Each obstacle has a particular button that must be pressed in order to avoid it; for example, to avoid a loop, you must press the R1 button. Every time Vibri successfully dodges an obstacle, the player receives a certain amount of points depending on a number of factors. These points are displayed at the top of the screen in the form of seven symbols, called "Score Coupons." There are 15 different types of Score Coupons, each representing a different value. The maximum value that can be represented by Score Coupons is 116 279, at which point the game will no longer count the player's score. This tool converts Score Coupons into standard numerals that can be read easily. It does not account for the win bonus, which is only calculated at the end of each round and only displayed as a regular number. CREDITS: Music and SFX are from Vib-Ribbon. Logo, Score Coupons, and numbers are originally from Vib-Ribbon; recreated in Adobe Illustrator by me.
How To Play
To toggle music, press Z. To toggle reduced motion mode, press X. This tool converts Vib-Ribbon Score Coupons into standard numerals that can be read easily. To enter a score, use the arrow buttons above each Coupon to change its shape. The total score will automatically be displayed at the bottom. "+ bonus" represents the win bonus, which is only calculated upon successfully completing a level and only ever displayed as a regular number. Because the game excludes the bonus from the total score during gameplay, it is not accounted for here.
