Body Positivity and Neutrality

Game Introduction

How To Play

“Not gonna lie… stretch marks? Kinda hot.” “If everyone in the world ate the same thing, we’d still have different body shapes. And some people would die because of allergies, and other things.” - A person from my class Yeah, I’m going to start my serious rant about something I believe in with a quote from a student in my class. Why? Because oh my god I needed to hear someone say something like that. Most information will come from my Being Embodied teacher, a nutritionist. I’m going to be honest! I’m not thin. I have stretch marks, and I definitely struggle with body negativity. But after hearing someone else say that stretch marks were cool? My confidence surprisingly boosted. When you look up stretch marks, it’s likely you’ll find articles about how to remove them, or people talking about how ugly they are. But… they’re not? They may be annoying or something(?) but they don’t hurt or anything, and it’s completely natural. Plus! They can only really be removed by a laser. So, I think, if you have them, embrace them! :) Also, the term ‘healthy’ is commonly thrown around when talking about food. What is ‘healthy’? Instead, try using the term nutritional. ALSO body hair! Is! So! Normal! We need to normalise that. Especially on afabs. Now, moving on to what you probably clicked to read about, haha. I could rant about other things related to this for hours… but if you’d like to know my opinion on something, just ask! Body positivity! This is when someone focuses only on the positive aspects on their body. Like telling themself that they’re beautiful, or focusing on what it can do compared to what it can’t. For example, I could say “I’m good at art, I can do karate, etc!” And body neutrality. Being neutral about your appearance. Not feeling exactly good about yourself, but not bad either. Both of these are fine! Everyone is beautiful in their own way <3 Some days you’ll feel eh about your body, some days positive, and maybe some days negative (though, if you can, try to avoid that). I hope you enjoyed this rant! It was kinda on impulse, haha. The art is from Bodies Are Cool by Tyler Feder
