**An Interview of UPMC Staff Sergeant Jacqueline “Jackie” Beaksley done by UNOP News Network (UNN) from the frontlines of the United Provinces of Astrea.** “They’re like ghosts.” Staff Sergeant Beaksley stated. “You’re moving through a town, and next thing you know, your point man’s [REDACTED FOR SCRATCH.] Before you’ve figured out where the shot came from, your buddy’s leg [REDACTED FOR SCRATCH.] By the time you think you know where it came from, another guy goes down, getting hit from a completely different direction.” Beaksley describes the situation many Marines have found themselves in moving through the UPA’s many towns, villages, and mountains. Second Coalition snipers in practically invisible positions pick off Parrots left and right, from seemingly every direction. “We lost five birds yesterday. Five [EXPLETIVE] birds. My best friend, Mark, [REDACTED FOR SCRATCH] two feet in front of me.” Beaksley’s unit, the 1st Marine Division’s 2nd Battalion, has suffered 58 dead and 63 wounded in the last month alone from these so-called “Ghost Snipers.” “They’re a morale wrecker,” Beaksley says, “Marines are barely willing to leave the cover of buildings. They think the next street they walk in will be the last.” Struggles like these are universal across the UPMC in the United Provinces of Astrea, a meatgrinder that has gone no where near as well as expected. Several thousands Marines have died, and the majority is underequipped and undersupplied. Rumors are circulating that this is due to heavy governmental corruption. Apparent pictures of Second Coalition forces using what appear to be brand new UNOP M20 Battle Tanks have even surfaced. Beaksley had to go back out on patrol before we could ask her any more about her experience in this horrible bloody war, but what we were able to ask her shows just how uncertain and terrifying this kind of fighting in mountains, urban, and suburban environments can be.
